ఇందుకోసం రాష్ట్రంలో 22,500 కిలోమీటర్ల మేర ఆప్టికల్‌ ఫైబర్‌ కేబుల్‌ వేయాలని రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వం నిర్ణయించింది. ఇప్పటివరకూ తొమ్మిది వేల కిలోమీటర్ల మేర పనులు పూర్తిచేసింది. ఈ గ్రిడ్‌ ద్వారా రాష్ట్రంలో 1.3 కోట్లకు పైగా గృహాలు, వ్యాపార సంస్థలకు ఇంటర్నెట్‌ సేవలు అందిస్తారు.
60 వేల పాఠశాలలు, కళాశాలలకు ఇ-లెర్నింగ్‌... 6,580 ప్రాథమిక ఆరోగ్య కేంద్రాలకు టెలీ మెడిసిన సేవలు అందుబాటులోకి వస్తాయి. వీటిని తొలుత విశాఖలో ప్రారంభించి ప్రాథమిక దశలో ఉత్తరాంధ్ర అంతా విస్తరిస్తారు. క్రమంగా రాష్ట్రమంతటికీ అందిస్తారు.
ఏప్రిల్‌ నెలాఖరుకు లేదా మే మొదటివారంలో విశాఖలో ఫైబర్‌ గ్రిడ్‌ ఇంటర్నెట్‌ సేవలు అందుబాటులోకి వచ్చే అవకాశం ఉందని సమాచారం. ఈ మేరకు తొలిదశలో భాగంగా ఆంధ్ర విశ్వవిద్యాలయం ప్రాంగణంలో ఫైబర్‌ గ్రిడ్‌ ప్రాజెక్టును ఏర్పాటు చేశారు.
క్షేత్రస్థాయిలో ప్రతి ఇంటికీ సేవలు అందించేందుకు వీలుగా.. విద్యుత స్తంభాల ద్వారా కేబుళ్లను వేసి భారీమొత్తాన్ని ఆదా చేశారు. కాగా.. ఈ ప్రాజెక్టు అమలుకు ప్రముఖ ఐటీ కంపెనీ సిస్కో సాంకేతిక సహకారం అందిస్తుండగా క్షేత్రస్థాయిలో కార్యకలాపాల బాధ్యతను టెర్రా సాఫ్ట్‌వేర్‌ కంపెనీ తీసుకుంది.
ఈ ఫైబర్‌ గ్రిడ్‌ ప్రారంభ కార్యక్రమం గురువారం సాయంత్రం విశాఖపట్నంలో జరగనుంది. సీఎం చంద్రబాబు దీన్ని ప్రారంభిస్తారు.
