Jamadagni (జమదగ్ని)

Jamadagni was one of the seven great sages (Saptarishi) in Hindu mythology. He is best known for his wisdom, spiritual knowledge, and his role as a teacher. శ్రీ మహా విష్ణువు నివాస స్థలమైన వైకుంఠానికి ద్వార పాలకులు. వీరి గురించి భాగవత పురాణం లో ఉంది. ఒక సారి బ్రహ్మ యొక్క మానస పుత్రులైన సనక, సనందన, సనాతన, సనత్కుమారులు విష్ణువు దర్శనార్ధమై వైకుంఠానికి వేంచేస్తారు. వాళ్ళు వయసులో పెద్దవారైనా చూసేందుకు పిల్లల్లాగా కనిపించడంతో ద్వారపాలకులుగా ఉన్న జయవిజయులు శ్రీహరి వేరే పనులందు నిమగ్నమై ఉన్నాడనే వంకతో వారిని అడ్డగిస్తారు. 

దాన్ని అగౌరవంగా భావించిన సనక సనందనాదులు ఆగ్రహించి భూలోకం లో మర్త్యులై సంచరించెదరని శాపం ఇస్తారు. తనకు ఆ శాపం వెనక్కు తీసుకునే శక్తి లేదనీ కాకపోతే రెండు ప్రత్యామ్నాయాలు మాత్రం సూచించగలనని చెబుతాడు. అప్పుడు మహా విష్ణువు వారిరువుర్నీ పలుమార్లు విష్ణుభక్తులుగా జనియించి తిరిగి వైకుంఠానికి వస్తారో లేక మూడు సార్లు మహావిష్ణువు ఆగర్భ శత్రువులుగా, ఆయనకు సమానంగా శక్తివంతులుగా జన్మించి ఆయన చేతిలోనే మరణం పొంది వైకుంఠానికి వస్తారో తేల్చుకోమంటాడు. అందుకు వారు ద్వితీయ మార్గాన్నే ఎంచుకుంటారు.
